Sunday September 20 at 1 pm – Tree Hike
We will visit a few sites around Fort Erie to identify native tree species and their importance to our local ecosystem. Meet at Waverley Beach Park at the bottom of Helena Street at Lake Erie to start and we will proceed by carpool to several other locations. Allow approx. 2 hours. Everyone/all ages welcome! Rain or shine, dress for the weather.
Saturday September 26 at 2 pm – An Introduction to the Owls of Southern Ontario: a Presentation by Marcie Jacklin
Held at the Centennial Branch of the Fort Erie Public Library, 136 Gilmore Road, Fort Erie. Everyone welcome!
Saturday September 26, 10 am to 3 pm – Stevensville Fall Fair
Come out and visit our booth at the Fair, with nature displays, games for kids and the ever popular button maker. Looking for volunteers to help tend the booth. If interested, please send an email to bertmillernatureclub@gmail.com
Saturday October 10 at 9 am – Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day
Meet in the parking lot at Shagbark Nature Park, 421 Burleigh Road N, Ridgeway for a walk on the trails to look for, identify and document migrating birds. Learn how to identify birds by sight and sound and how to document on the ebird app.

The Bert Miller Nature Club received this award from the Municipal Council of the Town of Fort Erie on behalf of the residents to recognize and express appreciation for the efforts to the redevelopment of Bay Beach!
Projects
Grass Pickerel
This smaller species of pickerel lives in several creeks in Fort Erie, including a section of Beaver Creek where the Town of Fort Erie would like to increase the rate of flow.
Fowlers Toads
Under the leadership of the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and McGill University, we have been contributing volunteer hours to the Fowlers Toad Recovery Project for many years.
Shagbark Nature Park
The Shagbark Nature Park initiative is a project our club maintains year round. It involves the rehabilitation of a Town-owned municipal nature area. The long term vision is to preserve the existing Maple/Beech forest and rehabilitate surrounding lands to increase the extent and diversity of the woodlot.
